Withholding Declaration (NAT 3093)

ATO form authorising your payer to adjust the amount of tax withheld from your payments. Used to claim the tax-free threshold, advise of HELP/student loan debts, or claim tax offsets.

When do you need this form?

When you want your employer to change the amount of tax they withhold from your pay — for example, to claim the tax-free threshold, advise of a HELP or student loan debt, or update your residency status. You must have already given your employer a TFN Declaration (NAT 3092) before you can use this form.

What you'll need

  • Your current details on file with your employer (to know what's changing)
  • Whether you have a HELP, VSL, SSL, FS, or AASL student loan debt
  • Your estimated tax offset amount if claiming zone or carer offsets
  • Your relationship status if claiming the Seniors and Pensioners Tax Offset (SAPTO)

Where to send it

Give the completed declaration to your employer (payer). They keep it on file — do not send it to the ATO.
